Ive been intentional (and Im not intentional about anything!) in not using the word fat around my kids because I dont want that to be a way they identify other people or themselves. Driving home yesterday my four year old son referred to someone as fat, we talked about it but that word fat is everywhere, preschool, school, playgrounds in a way the word healthy isnt. When we got home I asked my son if there was anything wrong with being fat? He said no, some people are and some arent. And thats when I had to wonder if the problem with the word fat is how I thought about it.
