Ive been looking at different things, moments, people, and situations that trigger certain responses in me (especially negative ones). What Ive realized is that my emotional responses to things are my OWN. Ive said this before, but we often react negatively (hate someone/something) when a person has a characteristic that YOU disliked in yourself enough to CHANGE- the fact that THEY have not gotten rid of it in themselves- triggers you to that same emotion of disgust/hatred that caused YOU to change it in yourself. Im not so sure we dislike or are annoyed by the PERSON as much as we are annoyed by the characteristic. Secondly, if positive, good things trigger bad emotions in you (distrust, jealousy/envy, cynicism, insecurity, etc), then the issue is not with them- it is with YOU. It is YOUR reaction. We try to project our emotions onto others, but if we are honest, it really has nothing to do with that other person, situation, etc. If we suppress or repress these negative emotions or excuse ourselves by justifying them, we only make them grow. Just as a body builder resists WEIGHTS to build muscle, when we resist EMOTIONS, they become stronger. Acknowledge them. Own them. Feel them. Then set them FREE. 👋🎈
