Ive been luxuriating in an online hiatus for a number of months, and havent shared this video poem, created by Angela and I, for a while. We were working on the piece, at this time of the year, during a visit back home down south, a few years back. Its tone and tenor are aligned with my mood at the moment, as I stand, slouched, touched by a tinge of melancholia, before the window of our eight floor apartment on the eastside of Manhattan, gazing down on the insult to sense and the senses known as the FDR highway. On US Interstates, we meet the US empire coming towards us. In this evocative video, we meet confederate ghosts and demons of consumer emptiness. We travel down the highway, propelled by engines of extinction, towards empires end, where we find ourselves bearing much grief yet are stranded amid ferocious beauty. vimeo/22377038
