Ive been nominated by Thomas Larnder to list the top ten books - TopicsExpress

Ive been nominated by Thomas Larnder to list the top ten books that have stayed with me. They are: 1. The Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling - Yes, I know its obvious but the fact is that I owe this series a lot of gratitude for a lot of reasons, mainly for making me love reading as much as I do. 2. La Morte DArthur by Sir Thomas Malory - Simply put, it is beautiful. The characterisation is intriguing and the morality is so in-depth and political that I cant help but have it in my top ten! 3. All the Sherlock Holmes stories and The Lost World by Arthur Conan Doyle - Again, predictable but Doyles writing is wonderfully enticing. 4. Games People Play by Eric Berne - Its non-fiction but the neo-Freudian nature of Bernes observations and deductions are just irresistible to someone so in love with Freud! 5. Such, Such Were The Joys by George Orwell - I just love it. 6. A Happy Death by Albert Camus - Beautifully written and poignant. 7. Nausea by Sartre - Whilst at first I found it very hit and miss, upon re-reading I have just fallen in love with it more and more, its a masterpiece. 8. A Happy Prince by Oscar Wilde - I cry every time. Its exquisite. I have no words to express how much I love Wildes works. 9. Jacobs Room by Virigina Woolf - I just identify with it so much and I admire Woolf for all her feats as well as her lovely writing. 10. In The Penal Colony by Franz Kafka - I dont know what to say about this other than that I just fell in love with Kafka because of it. First bit of Kafka I read and Ive been enraptured ever since! 11 (couldnt resist). Shakespeare. Just... Shakespeare. Whilst this list was hard to compile, I feel like I ended up with a list that I am relatively happy with, even though I felt a lot of novels did not get the attention they deserve. I nominate Emma Jordan, Charlotte Jenkins and Caitlin Jeal!!
