Ive been on a sort of vain quest the past few days ....trying to find as many references to pre 19th century files as I can...and not having a lot of luck. I figured it was plausible I was using the wrong words, file or rasp. So my next attempt is to start unraveling some linguistic/etymological details to find early period wood files. We have some Viking and some 18th century ones...but in between is currently a bit tricky to find. I have no doubt they are out there, Im just using the wrong search terms.
