Ive been on a whole food, kidney healthy diet for a week now, and let me tell you, I feel pretty damn great, considering how much intense flank pain I was dealing with over the last month. Thanks to Mary Ellen Ingersoll, Ive been having nothing but steamed rice, veggies, and meats accompanied by fresh fruits like blueberries and cherries. I drink nothing but water, pure cranberry juice ( no added sugar, nothing but water and cranberry juice. SOUR!) and a special drink I was inspired into concocting. If youre interested, heres the recipe: 1. Fill a 16 oz, empty bottle of water wither a 1/3rd or 1/2 way with cranberry juice. 2. Add 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup 3. Add 1/2-1 teaspoon cayenne pepper power 4. Add 1/2-1 teaspoon powdered ginger 5. Squeeze half a lemon into bottle. 6. Fill the rest with water, leaving enough room to shake. 7. SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE. Note: you may add more or less of either maple syrup, ginger or cayenne to taste. The drink is supposed to be sweet, spicy, sour and refreshing, not to mention, amazing for you.
