Ive been packing and feeling a little melancholy as I pack things together. Its hard to imagine that you can acquire so much (stuff) in 42+ years. It doesnt help that Im getting old either (ha). Things look really weird with all the boxes stuffed in the middle of our rooms and the closets are bare. Theres no food in the cupboard (except for what Sandra left me to munch on [ha]). Its not just the breaking away or leaving my home for all these years … its also leaving my home town and starting another chapter in my life. I listen to a lot of talk radio and watch the news (both liberal and conservative) a lot. Its hard for me to imagine so much change in the last ten years alone. It would be difficult for me to be a teacher today. I dont have much patience for smart-alecs or people who fail to show respect to teachers or anyone in authority. Are we perfect …. that would be a big No but its the result of the culture in which we live today. You see … we now live in a time where lying is acceptable and its okay to offend or hurt someone if you eventually get what you want. You can literally have and eat your cake too. It must be my age … but I really get frustrated with politics and our government. Im not a Democrat and probably never will be again. When I married I was a registered Democrat. Ive never been a Republican but voted party line most of the time. Today .. I cant stand either party and there are plenty of liberals on both sides and few if any conservatives on either side. Im an independent and consider myself a conservative both socially and politically. I support our arm services, desire less government in my business both private and workstation, and support traditional, conservative values. I believe in God, the Bible .. His Son and His coming again. I am a Christian and believe in missions. I think we have a responsibility to those who are unable to help themselves but Im not particularly fond of giving things to people who feel they are entitled to them. Not really sure of my influence in todays world … most people dont think like I do. Im kind of old-fashion in the way I do things and believe. I have no regrets … Ive had a good life … a beautiful wife, kids, in-laws and grandkids. My extended family is fantastic and many of you are my friends of whom I am proud to know and care for. What about my future? … dont know but Im kind of excited about the new adventures. I just dont want to forget my past or the many lessons Ive learned in this life. Ive tried to pass them on and down to you through my writings in Facebook. I hope and pray that you might have gained some wisdom and insight of this old mans life. There are many who are in need of our prayers … many who are sick and have undergone illnesses, tragedies and misfortunes in life. Continue to lift these people up and help them if you can. Mention them in prayer and ask Gods blessings on them. We need all the help we can get in todays world. Its going to be hard these next few years and not really sure what may happen to America. Regardless … we must keep on keeping on and continue to share our faith and beliefs. These will be under attack but I believe God will protect us. Thanks for listening .. its helped me to put things back into perspective. Tomorrow is another day and Im in the process of getting everything together for this weekends garage or moving sale. I heard it might be snowing or icing … sheesh. Oh well … Ill be here .. See you friend.
