Ive been passing by a gentleman here at our church/school facilities for a few weeks now who always seemed distant or preoccupied and never said hello. Every time this happened I just kept him in my thoughts and prayers. I recognize him from church because he and his family sit front and center during worship. Today I was determined to say hello to him, so before he passed me in the hallway I did just that and he replied by saying hello but still seemed busy and rushed. I thought there must be something keeping him so focused and seemingly indifferent. An hour later we bumped into each other at the coffee area and we began to talk. I asked for his name and gave him mine and he proceeded to tell me that he was vision impaired and laughed about how that can get him into a lot of trouble, especially when people pass by without receiving a greeting from him. He said he was afraid some people might think that he was a jerk. I laughed and told him that I always thought that maybe he had a lot on his mind. He laughed. I laughed. It was cool. He turns out to be a pretty good dude and he thanked me for saying hello and talking to him. Then he surprised me by saying that he recognizes me from my voice when I sing on Sunday mornings. Wow. AND he rides his bike to work. Straight stud. Next time dont be so quick to write people off. People are amazing! And God is good...
