Ive been playing about a year now and I can play pretty much all the standard open major and minor chords and their barred variations anywhere up and down the neck, and also understand why they go where they go. I also can play some chords with sevenths, suspensions, etc (Dsus2, Em7, stuff along those lines), but can someone PLEASE explain to me WHAT gives a chord, for example, a seventh, or fifth, or anything?? And what it even means? Try to put as simple as you can.... Im not very good with theory.
