Ive been pondering a bit: the original sin was pride, when satan lifted himself up in his heart, convincing himself that he would rise up and take Gods place. Pride is also what keeps disciples of Christ from sharing Gods truth with others. Pride is also the sin that causes Christs disciples to compromise their morality, and thus their lifestyles, causing the few times they actually share Christ in words, to be ineffective. People, regardless of what they say, are smart enough to see the difference between a Christian living in a legitimate struggle and one who willingly lives contrary to the Word they claim to believe. Not all believers in the Christ are fakes, and I know people can see that. But if pride ruins the witness of a fake, it also ruins the witness of the genuine, in many cases. Guilt by association.
