Ive been quiet on this blizzard until now. You are all going hear about different snow amount across Ct. A couple things to keep in mind. Very cold temperatures in the teens and 20s that means. So if we 1.0 of liquid that equals 15-20 of snow. If we 2.0-3.0 30-40 inches of snow... Secondly this blizzard will be worse than 2013 even though we may not get that 30-40 inch swath. This storm will be a slow mover and stronger wind gusts similar to the Blizzard of 1978! So blowing and drifting of will be worse than 2 years ago. One difference is the 1978 storm stalled south of CT; this one will stall near Cape Cod and move a bit faster but not by much. SO BLIZZARD FROM 6PM UNTIL MIDNIGHT WEDNESDAY. I do not think this storm is overhyped at all.. Actually Im still trying to get a handle of what Im seeing before my eyes... This morning, NAM and EURO continue to show 28-36 inches of snow all through CT. GFS is bad. It flips back and forth. 0Z really backed off, but 6Z starting to come around...One more data set will cement this storm... Based on everything, I like 15-30 or 20-30 inches.. It depends on where the bands of heavy snow sets up. But really we are splitting hairs!!! The wind will be the problem, with blowing and drifting. So it is possible that we are buried for several days. Then Friday, a few more inches. Wait until next week, more snow and near record Cold. Could this be 1961 again??? Ok well Joe and I will tweet some maps.. Plan on being buried for several days. More later... Be safe and there is still time to prepare today.. Steady snow by evening and then all bets are off!
