Ive been rattling around some more dialog about the FCPA again today. Since the FCPA is pretty much oriented towards bribery, this law continues to feed the dumbing down of the conversation concerning corruption. That is, bribery = corruption and therefore no bribery = no corruption. This is absolutely incorrect and a point I continually have to drive home. Perhaps a more cynical view could be: Bribery = legally actionable = lawyers can make money. No bribery = complex legal process = not profitable for attorneys. This is why you why we dont see the law try to address much of anything other than bribery.
