Ive been reading alot lately about the initiative to phase in an increase in federal minimum wage. I would be willing to stand behind this movement under 3 conditions. 1. Since low income workers would now be making more money this should be reflected in the amount of money we as a country spend on public assistance programs. In effect this should provide a tax break for middle income earners who make too much money to qualify for these assistance programs but are instead forced to fund them. 2. Those workers who must participate in some form of specialized training and/or licensure but are still making only a couple bucks an hour above the current minimum wage should also receive a wage hike. I do not think it is fair that someone such as myself who works at a job that requires more in-depth and varied skills in an industry that literally holds peoples lives in their hand should be making the same wage as those folks who wrap burgers in paper wrappers for a living. 3. Since more of every workers income is also now going to be spent on higher priced products which will be a direct result of employers and producers raising prices to help cover the cost of paying their employees, Obamacare should be immediately repealed. The American people should have more of a choice in how they wish to handle their health care costs.
