Ive been reading some interesting comments from some that seem to think the NBL started sometime in early 2000 and can only be a small time sport here.Bullshit.Lets have a brief history lesson.Tell me things have gotten better and you dont need to listen to real Basketball people. In the 1980s and through early 2000 this is what happened.Sydney grew from 1200 at Alexandria to sellout crowds of 12000 at the Ent actress,Perth moved to their Ent actress and packed in more than 10000 every game.Thank the late great Michael W in Sydney And Calvin Bruton for Perth.Brian Kerle took Brisbane from a tin shed to 14000 and the hottest ticket in town.East Melb and the Tigers went from the old swim center to the tennis center and filled it.Hobart built a great new arena on the Bay.Newcastle went from a 1500 tin shed to a new 4500 Arena and WGong did the same.Adelaide built their own 8000 seat Palace only to have a couple of power hungry idiots nearly destroy it.In 1986 Games were live to air on a slight game delay. The Grand Final was televised live on Sunday afternoon AND replayed LiVE in PRIME timeSunday nightDont tell me we cant do it again.BobTurner packed the building in Canberra AND had his own TV show.I had a one hour weekly radio show, and a regular World of Sport TV segment. We had major sport coverage in every major citys newspaper.Thats what us ignorant Basketball people did.We also developed seriously good talent.A few shooters,Gaze,Pearce,Heal,Davies, Johnston,to name a few to go with imports such as Loggins,Bruton,McDaniels,EverettRonnie the Rat,Al Green Mark Davis ,Herb McKeechan,Scott Fisher,Sweet Baby James Crawford,Dane Suttle, really,to many great ones to mention.Im sure you get the message.Might mention a few Coaches,Gaze,Barnes,Hurley,Turner,Bruton,Brian G,Palmer,Brett Brown, the great Brian Kerle, and I managed to add a little spice to the Gumbo. We can still blow the walls down.Dont tell me we cant. Give me two years and you would have to beg for a ticket to any of our games. The people are still there to drive this.Tap into our basketball talent, fire up the base, our game is the peoples game.Anyhow, just my of the top of my heads opinion.Sorry for mistakes.Im still learning .I will get better.Bless you my children, love and peace,Ken
