Ive been reading up on LENT this week since there is so much diversity in the practice. The history of Lent is fascinating .Our interpretations of Lent are all over the place. Lent is the period from Ash Wednesday to Good Friday. It is a period of fasting and prayer leading up to Easter. A time for us to give up some of our trivial ,wasteful ,frantic living to focus on the salvation offered by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. I was not taught to fast during Lent. It was just not a practice in my church that I remember but we did prepare to celebrate the savior . So in this season of Lent , I choose to not concentrate on my sacrifice but on HIS sacrifice . I choose to prepare my heart by baptizing it in the Word, and saturating it in the SPIRIT. Jesus came that we might have life and have it more abundantly. I will meditate on that fact as I prepare to celebrate the resurrection of my Savior. You see He Lives and I celebrate that because He lives I have peace , hope , love, joy and salvation. So I will prepare my heart by meditating on HiS sacrifice and pray that he will use me for His glory.
