Ive been renting rooms for 4.5 yrs and I have had a few resident doctors and had to revise my Air B&B rules. Is this too much...? Please let me know if I went too far? 1. You must be quiet when coming home at night and once inside after 10pm, as my neighbours are very sensitive and snoopy! 2. If you are on the party train- this is not the place for you. No drunken or disorderly people. No coming home late and starting to cook. 3. I am not your mom; if you are 24 and under and not really autonomous yet, this isnt the place for you. 4. You must do your dishes immediately after eating and treat the kitchen with care if you use it. 5. Be nice to the feline gentry. 6. Courtesy, curiosity and respect are a must! 7. Please close your bedroom door and the bathroom door quietly and refrain from slamming doors. 8. Please lock the doors when you leave, and ask me to show you how, so that we are on the same page. 9. I have garbage, compost and recycling and I am happy to show you where to put each type of waste. 10. Please turn-off the light and fan in the bathroom when you are done as well as turning off the lights in the rest of the apartment if I am in bed already. 11. Please keep your food in the designated sections of the fridge that I will show you and the cupboard for your dry stuff. Please wrap your food properly and throw-out anything that has gone bad. 12. If you feel uncomfortable or dissatisfied with a certain situation, please tell me and well see what we can do. I am a reasonable person and I am able to meet reasonable expectations. 13. You cannot use metal on Teflon pans. If you do not know what a Teflon pan is, just ask, and Ill show you. If you scratch it, you will replace it. 14. I do not drink coffee, so I do not always have coffee. Also, please refrain from putting coffee in my teapot. 15. Please do not arrive with a sense of entitlement...especially if you are a resident doctor at a hospital and havent learned how to live outside of work and school with or without other people or you are yet unable to manage the stress associated with your career. I am not there to ease the powerlessness and pressure you feel at work. I live here. It is my home and I am not a couch or a plant or a robot that fulfills your fantasies. 16. My apartment is clean, but I am not Madame Blancheville and I do not live in Pleasantville. If you expect a place that smells like Lysol permanently with plastic on the furniture and that each nook and cranny is polished and dusted and that I sport pink rubber gloves, and put on lipstick each chance I get or that I will serve you a glass of freshly squeezed breast milk....well...none of this will happen, and this is not the place for you!
