Ive been seeing so many heart breaking posts about some friends of mine having bad experiences with demon customers/co workers during the holidays. (Or any other time) So here are my own thoughts/accounts. Dear people who say Dont take such-and-such personally on a job!!! and Dear gross, evil Monster-Customers... Listen... 1.) There is a right and wrong way to give an employee constructive criticism/to tell them they did something wrong. Yelling and getting angry at them and bullying them, and otherwise just being a jerk in any way is NOT a right way of doing so. Be calm and courteous. Trust me its not that hard and it WORKS. 2.) I, and every other worker the world, am allowed, and have every right to be upset and feel hurt when someone is rude and hurtful. Do NOT tell us to just get over it, dont take it personally, suck it up, or welcome to such and such kind of job, better deal with it! Just stop. STOP STOP STOP. People are allowed to have emotions and cry about a bad experience. 3.) as far as losing a job if an employee gets upset. Im personally lucky enough to have a pretty good job right now where I dont have to deal with a lot of rude people (still do but not enough to make me want to leave). But as for future jobs I may get, Let me just say that if people are mean enough and unnecessarily cruel and awful and hurtful to me, I DONT NEED TO BE THERE. Simple as that. My mental and emotional well-being, being put at risk like that is NOT worth all the money in the world. Sorry but thats how I feel. So if you are one of THOSE CUSTOMERS (or co workers) then I REALLY hope you start to rethink your nasty freaking behavior. Because most of us employees (you know people who make mistakes and are just doing their jobs) are 110% DONE with your crap. Bye.
