Ive been seeing this article going around about ice/ice water - TopicsExpress

Ive been seeing this article going around about ice/ice water being dangerous for dogs. Ruby LOVES ice! Sometimes I think she loves it more than actual dog treats! She will do anything for it! So, Ive been looking in to this article to see if there is any truth behind it. So far, I am coming up with conflicting information. A lot of the articles I am reading are saying that this is not true, its a hoax, its a myth! They are saying the real concern is from the dog taking in too much water, too fast, and swallowing a lot of air causing gastric dilatation-volvulus ( which is a very serious condition! ). Another real concern is fracturing their teeth with the hard ice. All the articles I have read saying this is true, are articles pointing back to this one incident. And in some of the articles the dogs name has changed but the incident remains the same. Has anyone else had any first-hand experience with this? Have you talked to a vet about it to see if there is truth behind it? Ruby is currently between vets since our move, but I might just call a local vet to get their opinion on it. Eric, Do you have any information to offer on this??
