Ive been shy to introduce Ian because his #NOWportrait was slightly different. Not for him, but for me! Im single at the moment and I realised that I havent been meeting and chatting to enough men. I tell myself its because I work from home a lot and I dont meet many men, but the real reason is that Ive been scared to start conversations with attractive men I dont know. Ive been single for a while and Id lost confidence. I decided that the only way to build confidence was to actually practice chatting to men and I made a plan that my next NOWportrait would be an attractive man! So, meet Ian.... I met Ian at the lido. Hes a cameraman and was filming Ellie Simmonds for the SwimBritain Challenge. We didnt have long to chat because Ian was working. I explained that Im looking for love and I asked him what his thoughts on love were. He exclaimed with a laugh youre asking me about my love life?!? I laughed (and probably blushed a bit too). He told me that hes recently become single again and has moved back to London to the very area he grew up in, after living out of town in the countryside. I was nervous to start a conversation with Ian. It was like my very first NOWportrait all over again. But, like with all the connections Ive made with strangers, it was wonderful to meet and chat with someone new, and each time it happens my confidence grows, and my day is more joyful. Also, doing NOWportrait wearing only my bathing costume was a definite breakthrough in self confidence!!! A big thanks to my friend Hannah for reminding me that being brave, taking a risk and starting a conversation with someone new is what NOWportrait is all about! Who would be a real challenge for you to say hello to and start a conversation with (and take a portrait of)? Share in the comments below! And, I challenge you to take it on, meet a stranger and share your NOWportrait with us in the group :)
