Ive been sitting on information for a couple of weeks now because a) Im not a political person, b) I have personal friends running in this race who will be affected by the release of this news, and c) I hate rocking the boat. However, as much as I hate all that, I love my hometown more than anything, and I would cringe to think I didnt offer you the same information that Ive been exposed to through my networking in the community. This is critical information that I feel should be weighted very heavily when casting a vote. I also think its very pivotal when deciding who to cast a vote for but heres the scoop: There have been accusations made of a hidden agenda that a very prominent family who owns a great deal of real estate on/around the square are getting pushback from current city council incumbents on their development plans, and as a result are backing a select group of candidates who will align with their vision for the direction and future of Bentonville to challenge those incumbents and push their project through once elected to councel. I am posting to neither confirm nor deny those rumors. What I AM posting is to report the following facts. I will only relay information that I received from the horses mouths, as it would not be fair to repeat hearsay/gossip: A fiesta celebration of a select group of candidates was hosted on Oct. 10th. Those candidates, as a group, have their own campaign manager from North Carolina, Erica, who arrived in town Oct. 9th, the night before the fiesta celebration, and she told me shes staying at Tommy Waltons apartment until the election November 4th (election day). This fiesta was hosted by one of Tommys best friends from California and was supposed to be at their house, but was then moved to a building that the Waltons own (confirmed by this best friend) when the weather turned inclement. The following candidates are part of the voting block group: Robinson Yoes Soos Webb Reed I seriously dont want to be involved in politics. Then again, I would hate knowing that our community had the potential to lose its identity as vested, multi-generational citizens of the town I know we all love so much because I sat back on my laurels and remainined comfortable. The fact that none of these candidates are making this public is very concerning to me. Im not trying to sway anyones vote as much as I am trying to educate the public-at-large of information Ive learned that not everyone is privy to. Take this information for what its worth, and cast your votes based on your own personal values.
