Ive been so blind sided by my desire to make more money, get out - TopicsExpress

Ive been so blind sided by my desire to make more money, get out of debt, and gain independence that I keep forgetting about the benefits I receive for being part Hawaiian and of course for being low income, did a mental comparison....... My current Salary $20,000 a year working approximately 31.25 hours per week Hawaii child care cost at Calvary Episcopal Preschool (an official day care) $65/month receiving $650 a month = a $7800 yearly benefit from the PKS scholarship Ebt benefits for low income $230 a month which =$2,760 per year WIC $80 a month in food = a $960 a year benefit for being low income, HMSA Quest is free, my former employer charged $2100 a year for family medical my current employer charges $3000.00 a year for medical, but its currently free in the state of Hawaii for being low income, so that benefit value ranges from $2100 to $3000.00. Safelink cell phone is free for being low income, value approximately $25 a month about $300.00 per year. Credit card debt = $650 a month Rent = $0 per month, Utilities = $0 per month Gas currently $4.35 a gallon in Hawaii costs me around = $280 a month for work and miscellaneous trips on my off days. Car Insurance with Farmers Insurance = $56/ month and gym membership at 24 hour fitness = $8.64/ month. Life Insurance policies are paid annually after tax returns come in so not counting that. Taking into account my annual salary $20,000/year plus the $7800 a year in child care/education I would loose if I left Hawaii, also the $2760 a month in ebt, the $960 a month in wic, the $3000 in free medical and the $300 in free cell phone service if I made more money that equals out to be $34,820 not counting the fact of not having a rent and utility expense at the moment which would cost me a good amount of money depending on which state I lived, but it would definitely be cheaper in the mainland, so I guess the extra $16,000 a year I would make working at Quik Trip would be all depleted when I forfeit all the benefits for moving and changing jobs and its possible I could go further in the hole having to pay rent and utilities after the loss of all the benefits I am currently receiving regardless of the pay increase. One thing I forgot to factor in (the mental cost of living with my parents) = $ ? I dont know sometimes it seems very VERY high and not worth it. They currently are being nice to me since I was dead set on applying for that job, and Vinny would be gone for good, but changed my mind after I figured I dont really have a reliable person to help me if things go south. So thats that I guess Im staying in Hawaii another year. Not happy to be in this house but hoping I can tolerate it another year and I guess it would suck to not have the beach to go to anymore, after an awesome swim a couple weeks ago at bellows I am reminded that they just dont have the magical crystal blue waters we have here in Hawaii, in the mainland.
