Ive been so floored by the all the women Ive met lately. All my life Ive spent time in the THEATRE/MUSIC/FASHION worlds...all very cut throat and competitive. Unfortunately, when insecurities knock, many gals answer the door with hate and negativity towards each other and themselves :/ Its hard to say this but Ill admit Ive cried myself to sleep wrapped up in a Texas quilt, clutching a stuffed baby seal just obsessing about how I could be more of a bizznatch (yup!) to combat the drama and win the race. I started to assume everyone was like this and tried to build up a competitive radar. Sadly, (or maybe not) I am totally transparent when it comes to my feelings so I usually just end up coming off like a weirdo in giant shoes. Luckily, good GIRL VIBES have been pouring in this summer in the form of new relationships with women who honestly have no idea how much they mean to me. Through these encounters, I am reminded to be thankful for the fabulous female friendships Ive maintained for years. Instead of clinging to them for emotional support, I am beginning to realize that Im every woman, its all in me, and I just need to cool it. The things that other people are going through have nothing to do with me. I gotta STOP placing so much value in other peoples perceptions and opinions of me because its LAME, its debilitating and really nobody cares. THANK YOU to my friends both new and old, silver and gold, for teaching me that I dont have to turn my skin into leather and my heart into rocks because there ARE girls who just want to (sing!) and have fun.
