Ive been spending this last week in Northern Ireland, in the lovely town of Downpatrick. Its about 30 minutes southeast of Belfast and coincidentally where the amazing George Lowden Guitars Ltd are produced. Ive had a nice amount of time to write and generally figure out how this second record will come together. I was remembering how much of a pleasure it was recording What Just Happened? over in Bath and how a bunch of you have probably only heard a small portion of the album (relating YouTube views to album sales as a base) Ive only recorded videos for about half of the songs, and these are the ones I predominantly play live, as youd assume. There are however, songs that Ive never, or rarely played live, at least not since the record was released. One of these is a trio piece inspired by this part of the world. Its a merry jig with no real backstory, other than that life is full of fun and people should dance more. It was a pleasure having my engineer Josh Clark lay down the percussion on this track, as well as teaming up with the talented Troy Donockley from the Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish for the low whistle parts. It would be great to do this live someday. There is a ludicrous G7th Capo key change in this piece. During the modulation the capo is dropped onto the second fret and then clamped on, whilst playing with the other hand. Terror! See if you can hear the noise of the capo dropping as it clicks into the neck :) Anyway, I hope you enjoy Forest Party. Greetings from a pub in Downpatrick... youtu.be/LYkd4GrYCTY
