Ive been taking time to process and set up support but I wanted to let my friends and family know that Price was diagnosed as being on the Autism spectrum on October 14th. They have high hopes for his treatment due to his level of intelligence. Hes showing signs of being gifted however his communication delays get in the way of showing that fully. He was diagnosed by one of the top/leading groups in my area. Normally they have an almost 2 year waiting list to get in. He was lucky enough to be referred to a program by his amazing pediatrician that got him in within 2 weeks. He is going to start speech therapy every week and occupational therapy every 2 weeks. Im trying to keep a brave face but as a concerned parent I find myself sometimes blaming myself. I feel like I failed him and I somehow did something wrong. Though all the specialists tell me its most likely hereditary and nothing I did or could have done to prevent it. Hes such a bright, sweet, loving boy but worry about his future.
