Ive been teaching performance and film in various manifestations these past few months, and today is prepping for a new year at the OSD. Thoughts turn to the issue of what is genuinely inspiring, and Ive been asked numerous times by students - What is your favourite film? . I dont have a favourite film - but I might just have a favourite moment. As someone who dabbles in the art of the vaudeville double-act, over the Summer I have re-watched the complete Laurel and Hardy output - from the earliest solo work to their final years - and out of all the riches and astonishment - this just might be it. I imagine I shall watch this pretty much every day for the rest of my life. This speaks of deep truths about the human condition and this journey we are all on. Enjoy.
