Ive been thinking a lot lately about kinder humane harvesting of meat and other animal products. When I saw an amazing non-narrated documentary called Samsara last year, I literally got sick when it showed footage on the cruelty that goes on in factory farming. A friend recently shared this link with me. Caution: there are some very sad scenes on the video - I did not see anything Id call gory and graphic but definitely heart-breaking pictures of animals. If you do want to watch and skip the sad parts, if you hover your mouse over the video tracking line at the bottom of the screen youll see thumbnails of the video and can skip past the parts that look disturbing (thats what I did). But it has an inspiring message ... and some simple tips to make a difference. For example, if every dollar we spend on food was considered like a vote, then we can use our dollars as votes and refuse to vote for factory farmed food ... ie, refuse to buy it. Or we can reduce/remove certain foods from our diet. I know I want to remembered as kind, compassionate, and caring consumer!
