Ive been thinking about the climate change debate, and what skeptics like Don Tracy have been saying, and it occurred to me that what has me convinced is the tremendously high number of experts that believe in the prevailing theory of man made atmospheric carbon being the culprit. But since when has a majority consensus of experts been a good argument for good science? So, I wonder how many people who agree with the conventional wisdom on global warming, including cutting edge climate scientists, still believe that saturated fat causes heart disease. Apples and oranges of course, maybe even apples and oysters. But though the diet-heart hypothesis that Ansel Keyes developed over 50 years ago was sloppy science, it is so firmly embedded in the minds of our dedicated health practitioners that anyone who dares to question it, even with the data to do so, is scoffed at. In both cases correlation seems to imply causation. Whether ye be fer it or agin it, Darwin once said, Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than knowledge.
