Ive been thinking about this a lot recently and its something that I honestly have no answer for. Homesickness. I am finding it incredible that I miss land. People who are still there cant understand and they normally say its shite over here. Its not a city or a village out a mountain that I miss but the land itself. I feel a pull towards home from deep inside me. Are we physically linked to our place of birth? Its it purely emotional? I do not know. To me its a physical thing that has emotional effects. Most of my family is no longer in Scotland, so its not that. I feel it in my guts, in my bones, like a rope is tied to me and I have to fight the urge of the pull. Maybe we are actually physically joined, and in our western post industrialised society we thought that we have cut these ties and progressed. Is it a natural instinct that remains with us from times gone by? Who the hell knows, I just know that its a very real thing. I feel it every year at this time, even though I have no intention of moving home.....until its independent at least:)
