Ive been thinking about this all night. We had a great meeting with Elizabeth last night, she kicked-off a healthy debate about representation of women on stage and screen which I know excited the group in attendance but has me fired up as finally, someone is speaking my language. It excites me to think that there are untapped stories, knowledge and understanding out there that we are not seeing explored on stage or screen. What a world we will live in - especially speaking as a man - where we can watch a production that delves deeper and deeper into what makes a woman tick. Not what does a man do to make a woman tick. What is her struggle? Perhaps a struggle a man never knew nor could he ever. We have plays and television/film scripts that have explored this area but not enough. Really - not even close. Elizabeth mooted an idea - what if a collective of people got together and explored this situation with a view to drafting a new script not to tell the world off for not representing women well, but to be the new precedent? To set a new example in how to tell a story through a womans eyes. Would you want to be involved? Why would you want to be involved? Thoughts below - lets start something...!
