Ive been to Key West, lived in San Francisco, New York and Hawaii. Ive fished the eastern and western coasts and sailed the rough seas of the North Atlantic. I been captain of Coast Guard vessels and survived a sinking ship. Ive surfed the North Shore and lived in hippy communes. I left home at 14 and hitch-hiked the highways of the U.S.. Ive led a Mime troupe and preformed before thousands. Ive slept under bridges and abandoned houses. Ive hauled hay, worked in gas stations, trained as a butcher. Ive built houses and re-roofed more than 17,000. Ive been hospitalized by 14,000 volts and was a strong competitor in triathlons. Ive lived through Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Carter, Reagan, Clinton and Bush. Ive been shot, stabbed and crushed. I been jailed as a juvenile, and lived in a home with an indoor Olympic sized pool. I was trained in scuba diving a the Naval base in Pensacola and used those skills in many waters. Im an expert hunter and have bagged trophies by arrow while stalking on foot. Im a marksman with a rifle and have the quickest of reflex. Ive lived in both the wealthiest of households and on the streets. The list of odd occurrences in my life could go on and on. Ive been a professional fisherman and am good with a cast net. Tilapia fed my family and paid my winter bills for years. Ive fathered 7 children and never failed to provide for their needs. I dont consider my self as great nor do i say these things for honor or praise but if some young college graduate who did nothing but use his parents credit cards to pay his way through school, considers not my experience as wisdom and that Im just an aging man with has been kind of thinking, I think hes overlooking an opportunity to learn because his professors and teachers could have learned a thing or two from me. One thing that I know that stands above all Ive done right and wrong is that I stand straight and tall today simply because of the supernatural power of a loving and merciful Savior whos name is Jesus. You dont need to believe in Him, but you should consider the advise of all those around you that have the stripes of experience for your advise. Your books wont teach you how to survive and often your titles will just puff you up. What I see is hard times ahead....so by getting out of debt you will still be able to enjoy your life. Take it or leave it.
