Ive been to Tacloban several times when my dad was building the copper smelter in Isabel, Leyte. The number of deaths represent 5% of the population of Tacloban. If this percentage of deaths were to occur in Tampa this would mean 17, 000 deaths. In Tampa Bay Area this level of disaster would mean 215,000 deaths. Compare this to hurricanes in the US. Hurricane Andrew had 65 deaths. Hurricane Sandy had 112 deaths. Katrina had 1833 deaths. These 10,000 people were individuals with hopes and dreams, who had friends and family who will miss them. This is just a horrible, horrible disaster.
