Ive been to a lot of funeral homes, but going to the funeral home - TopicsExpress

Ive been to a lot of funeral homes, but going to the funeral home for friend and fellow parishioner David Pardington tonight was surreal. Everyone who walked in the door had the same expression on their face: Is there really a line leading into the viewing room? In fact, some asked, including me, in disbelief since I had never seen a line wrapping out into a hallway at a viewing. The funeral director was standing next to me and I said, Youre accustomed to dealing with crowds like this, arent you? He replied, Oh, no. This is quite out of the ordinary. I heard the line was like that all.day.long. Tomorrow he is laid to rest. It will be a Tridentine funeral and I know Fr. Perrone is pulling out all the stops. Dave sang with the choir at times, and they have something special in store. But, the Requiem Mass itself, using the 1962 Missal, is quite beautiful. I was blown away the first time I went to one with the depth and beauty of the prayers for the deceased. I knew then that this is the Mass I hope to someday have. For those who dont have a missal and see this post, you can print out your own sheet to follow, but its rather long. We need to work on getting or making booklets at Grotto with the whole thing so people know whats going on. missale.heliohost.org/requiem.html
