Ive been trying to remain silent over this whole Team Pittsburgh VS Team Ireland Donnybrook boxing tournament thing but enough is enough. I understand the promoters are trying to hype this event by calling the Pittsburgh team the best the city has to offer but the truth is its far from the best. Most of the fighters were handpicked not because of their talent, but because of their gym affiliation and the fact that their coaches are friends with those who put together the event. Thats all good, but stop calling yourselves the best of the city, which is a slap in the face to the other fighters who rep this city. A lot of deserving fighters were left off because their coaches (like myself) aint part of the good ole boys ass kissing crew. Most of team Pittsburgh have losing records or have been inactive, yet they are all over Facebook bragging theyre the best. Why didnt the organizers of this event put together an Olympic style box off, invite everyone, and make these fighters earn their way onto Team Pittsburgh? Only then would members have a right to call themselves the best of the city. Like many amateur boxing shows in Pittsburgh, this event is a joke, all about making money and playing favoritism games with pitiful coaches and fighters, and they wonder why I prefer to fight my guys out of state....No disrespect to Matt Conway, Jarrell JT the Brick Bracket, John Spell, Jr and Amonte Eberhardt. You guys deserve to be on the team and rep, but know that if you trained at an unaffiliated gym and your coaches were not part of the good ole boys circle, you would have been excluded too.
