Ive been very hesitant to post this status but Ive decided Im going to. A few months ago emilys car was hit in a Parking lot. The cops were called and then she called her daddy. When Mark got there he realized the guy that hit her was a long time friend.someone that we knew and have known for years. Mark asked him if it would be easier to settle out of pocket on his behave and he agreed that it would, for mark to just get an estimate and he would pay it instead of turning it in on his insurance. The cop that arrived at the scene agreed to letting them handle it that way and we thought it was settled. We got the estimate and told him. He was in total agreement to begin with. The estimate was close to 1000 dollars. In the months since this has happened we have received 200 dollars. Mark talked to him and told him that if he would just give 500 we would settle in the middle. We still have saw no more money. I contacted his wife and asked for insurance info and told her our insurance company said we could still just file it and be done. When I talked to his wife( who I dont know we only know the husband and his family) she said we would not be getting their insurance info. Mark has since tried to contact him and his number has been disconnected. Keep in mind all of this happened about the time mark lost his job, and he still said we would settle it this way to help them out. Mark had full faith that he would keep his word. We have loved him and his family for years and are totally heartbroken that he has decided to handle the situation in this manner. Emily is no longer driving this car but we are trying to sale it. Now for a lower price because theirs s dent in the panel. I guess the lesson here is no matter how much you care for someone, always follow proper protocols. We have learned our lesson and just trying to figure out what the next step should be if anything.
