Ive been working long hours, and newsing myself less. I get over 40 political emails daily, I delete most all of them. I will continue to vote, write my representatives, and speak out about issues that matter to me, but in the last month I have seen how staring at the troubling things happening in this world has robbed me of peace. The media is comprised of commercial interests, so are the political parties. When we subject ourselves continually to the streams of information, we become emotional piñatas. The Church of the SubGenius advocates practicing media ecology -that is consciously choosing to receive information, instead of just turning on the radio and hearing about 40 people slain in some shopping mall, followed by an advertisement about weight loss and American obesity. I think it would be helpful to many if we limited how much information we take in, and are careful about the sources we receive from.
