Ive been working on digitizing the home videos my dads taken over the years and came upon this gem. District public speaking on Salt Spring Island. March 3, 2001. I remember this year well. My speech was on finding the right dog and Laurens was on diabetes. This was the time I forgot to do the intro to my speech. I remember joking about how this was the one time that Sandy didnt cry during Laurens speeches, instead by step mom did! Due to our success Lauren, me, our moms and Janele Moneypenny all got to travel together up to regionals. Spent the night in a motel practicing our speeches and some impromptus to help Janele (she was a senior so would be doing an impromptu the next day) This was also the year that I left my cue cards in the motel we stayed in and had to do the speech entirely by memory! Thank you Dad for all those hours you spent recording various events, despite our annoyance and swatting at you to get the camera out of our faces. :)
