Ive caught some flack for my post listing the Amount of 10+ Goal - TopicsExpress

Ive caught some flack for my post listing the Amount of 10+ Goal Scorers the Flyers currently have for 2014-15. I admit, its a bit misleading. True, we have six players whove scored 10 or more goals so far this season, but none of that (on paper) provides us with the fact that inconsistency has been one of our largest burdens. So, in effort to provide more context, here are the six players again, their goal totals so far, and their Offensive Zone Start percentages -- Voracek (17G), 60.4 OZS% Simmonds (16G), 49.9 OZS% Giroux (14G), 50.3 OZS% Raffl (11G), 57.3 OZS% B.Schenn (10G), 57.2 OZS% Couturier (10G), 38.7 OZS% A few silver-linings here to consider: 1. Three of those six players are on pace to beat their career highs in goals-scored (Voracek, Simmonds, Couturier), and Raffl has already met that mark. 2. All four of the aforementioned players are of an age thats either before their prime, or they have just entered their primes. At this point during a seemingly lost season, individual player progression is the name of the game. Especially when these players are part of a core moving forward. 3. The name that stands out most to me is Sean Couturier. Despite him still being deployed as a defensive-offenseman (re: Zone Start %), his offensive game has taken an enormous leap in the right direction. He is putting together a pace that should have him around the 20-goal mark by seasons end. His career high is 13 goals, and hes already 76% of the way there through half a season. And best yet... hes 22 years old. . Again, in a season which seems lost, I prefer to hang my focus on whatever positives I can. These are noteworthy positives, my friends. And when we consider all the offensive opportunities lost from a subpar defensive corps, its exciting to think what a few of these players could become once our blueline picks up. I hope this has added some confidence to your fanhoods.
