Ive come to face the fact that Christmas is both about the birth of Jesus and the celebration of our friends and family as well. And Im ok with that. Im ok with giving gifts, Christmas trees, and holiday fun. I feel no compulsion to re-claim Christmas from the secular world or anything like that. Like many other holidays, Christmas has a horizontal (person-to-person) element, and a vertical (person-to-God) element. Its a beautiful thing. Acts of charity and goodwill towards others are divine in a certain way, if you look at Jesus teaching.
