Ive come to the conclusion that being liked is overrated. Of course, its good to be liked, but not everyone is going to like me. Its important to me to be likeable...to be a person who has likeable qualities. I know that I am, and Im secure in that. Well, there are people who are going to dislike me. That is just reality. No matter how likeable, good, nice, kind -- downright wonderful -- we are, some people are going to not like us. In fact, the more likeable and wonderful we are, the more people may surface who dont like us...and they may be flat-out nasty. Such people will do their best to make you unhappy, simply because they are unhappy. Ive always told my children that happy people arent mean and hurtful to others. Unhappy people will attempt to spread unhappiness. If youre a woman, and youre strong, fierce, true and powerful, you can still be nice and be likeable. And the strongest, fiercest, truest, most powerful statement is to accept, allow and tolerate that people may not like you and to say I really dont care. And mean that. And not be affected by that in the slightest. What IS important is that we like ourselves. Personally, I like myself a lot. That is what I care about..
