Ive decided to do something a little different this year for the holidays. I will be making care packages for the homeless, one in the name of each friend or family member I wouldve gotten a present for. These packages will contain living necessities like hygiene products, protein bars, vitamins and warm socks and gloves, as well as $10-15 grocery store gift cards and a booklet ill put together of homeless resources in town that can help, including shelters, free meals and meal baskets, runaway and addiction help, health care options, employment options and rent help. Ill be donating these bags to multiple homeless shelters in town and to those turned away from full shelters that are forced to stay on the streets. If youre thinking about getting me a gift this year, Id like instead for you to make a donation to my cause. You can either donate money to me to go to making even more care packages, or you can donate other items that I will bring to shelters for you: kids toys, books, blankets, gently used clothing, coats, anything to help during these cold winter months. Its important to remember that the holidays are a time to celebrate for some, but a very hard time to get through for others.
