Ive encountered too many people in my news feed, in my town, in this country who not only display a disturbingly ignorant callousness and lack of moral compass, but an appallingly and deeply disturbing disconnect to on-going, fundamental social justice and human rights struggles of the world. Many Americans demonstrate an inchoate understanding of American history, politics and society, let alone social movements, resistance and human agency. What the tacitly racist posts, thoughts, comments and actions reveal is: not only do they not know what they are talking about as far as racism, racial injustice and racial inequality goes but they know very little about their own countrys history in general. To those with shortsighted criticism who dismiss protestors engaging in civil disobedience: Youve been so doped, I cant help you.
