Ive found this true with my Thoroughbred, Sydney, if I am calm and quiet in his presence, he is also peaceful. One time at his barn, there was a tornado warning and dangerous thunderstorm passing through the ranch. We were in the indoor arena and hail was beating on the metal roof. Several other horses surrounding us in their stalls were thrashing and screaming at the noise and air pressure change, but we stood in the doorway, his muzzle in my hand and he closed his eyes until the storm passed. We calmed each other, it worked beautifully.
