Ive got a bit of a moral dilemma on my hands, and I would really - TopicsExpress

Ive got a bit of a moral dilemma on my hands, and I would really appreciate some input. I adopted a black lab from the county animal shelter a few weeks ago. She was found and turned over to the shelter, held for the mandatory time, etc. I adopted her 23 March. Two or three days later, I saw an ad on Craigslist for a lost female black lab called Lucy. The ad said shed been missing 10 days at that point. Two days ago, the ad showed up again, and it was unchanged (still said missing 10 days). I randomly called the dog Lucy to see what she would do, and shes responding to the name. Im as sure as I can be without responding to the ad that the dog that I adopted is the missing Lucy. Heres the dilemma: Im sure that if I had invested time, money, etc. into a full-blooded lab that Id want my dog back. I feel guilty keeping her if, in fact, she does belong to the person that wrote the ad (even if she is licensed and microchipped in my name now). On the other hand, can I do that to my kids? How do you explain to a four year old why his new best friend has to leave (if it turns out to be the dog in question)? I dont think I could stand to break Tylers heart like that. Sorry this is so long, but thanks for reading it and for any input/advice.
