Ive got a little puzzle if anyone is interested. I dont *need* to know the answer, Im just intrigued. The fire insurance maps I was looking at the other day are really interesting. I was looking at where my great x3 grandmother lived before she married my great x3 grandfather. She lived in Change Alley, it took me a while to find it but its between Albion Street and Lands Lane. We can see that the WH Smiths building used to be an auction house and starbucks used to be the Leeds offices of Liverpool and London and Globe Insurance Company. But what was the grand building the building next door? Its where the Conservatory is now and is shown as Crowne and Cuttle on the insurance map.
