Ive got a question for you... When have you ever heard of - TopicsExpress

Ive got a question for you... When have you ever heard of someone in authority or a position of great importance ever admit theyve made a mistake or were wrong? I personally cant recall any. You see, these people have to shore up their credibility at all cost, meaning that most of their actions are mere illusions of credibility. Any position of authority only exists because we give them immense credit for being flawless, this is delusional at best. If you are incapable of admitting when you are wrong, you have no credibility nor accountability let alone, humility. We see this disfunction in all sorts of aspects, Religion, Politics, The Media and even in our daily social affairs. The only exception is in science. Every scientist worth their salt is glad and appreciative of being proved wrong. Why, you may ask. Because in science, the truth is more important than ego. If someone, anyone is incapable of seeing past their ego or getting past their false sense of value, to be humbled enough to admit their mistakes or admit when they are wrong, dont trust them to have any credibility. Creditability only comes from impeccable honesty, honesty that is willing to be self correcting, one that is not so shallow as to hold to a belief that has no proof or merit or needs to be reinstituted time and again with either force or beguilement. Making mistakes is a very natural event, we all do it. What is unnatural is clinging to an idea or a behaviour that is damaging, that keeps a constant effort to shore up inspite of the facts or conclusions brought forth with better evidence. Honesty and credibility walk hand in hand. If you cant admit to being wrong, how pray tell, can you ever get past the mistakes and achieve enlightenment? That fact is, you cant. This is the lesson of experience. To err is human, to repent, devine.
