Ive got several questions and concerns about this situation re Lorje being sanctioned. Im pretty rusty on this, but here goes: 1. Why is a geotechnical report regarding the safety of peoples homes considered privileged in any way, shape or form? Is not the safety of the people who live their paramount over the citys legal liabiity? 2. Im really rusty on the privy council thing, but isnt a member of the privy council (generally speaking, cabinet) a member for life? And therefore, wouldnt Lorje, once a cabinet minister, and Eric Cline, also a former cabinet minister, and thus both privy councillors, de facto not be the public in the strictest definition of the sense? But if you follow that argument, then this part of the oath would apply: I will in all things to be treated, debated and resolved in Privy Council, faithfully, honestly and truly declare my mind and my opinion. I shall keep secret all matters committed and revealed to me in this capacity, or that shall be secretly treated of in Council. Generally, in all things I shall do as a faithful and true servant ought to do for Her Majesty. (City councillors are NOT considered privy councillors 3. Couldnt this information have been obtained under a freedom of information request? And if so, isnt it then not really all that secret at that point? 4. If the city council represents the people, and the people include those living on that street that was sloughing in, dont those very people have the right to know what is affecting them? (I know its a simplistic argument, but humor me) Im sure Steven Lloyd has some thoughts on this, as would Michael Zwaagstra and perhaps Ian Berg. And ....
