Ive gotten a handful of messages over the last few days from folks who say that they are afraid to join a socialist organization. I understand. Many who are currently members of socialist organizations were likely scared before joining as well. If I can offer any words of reassurance to others who might feel afraid, I think youll find that, after joining a socialist organization, there is a lot of support and warmth, and that perhaps the challenges you might expect to face with regard to public scrutiny arent quite as harrowing as you think. Of course, it might vary a bit depending on where you are, but I think that the landscape is changing a bit with how the public perceives socialism. My advice, for whatever its worth - go for it and well work through all of this together. You are needed - that I can assure you.
