Ive had a couple of questions from friends and family about my recent by past surgery and my progress. Im all together too lazy to answer everybody individually so here you go. I had a triple by pass on Aug 1.It was my second heart attack ( Not for the faint of heart and yes the pun is intended) Today is one month down the road. Ive seen all doctors at least once and they say I am doing very well. I am taking very few pain meds, Only when I over do it or after a heavy rehab session. Oh yea, I started rehab last Monday. Great people. I like them a lot. I start back to work on Tuesday the 2nd. Doctor was not happy with this decision but gave tacit approval if I agreed to take it easy. Dont have a choice in that area. With this operation, at least for me, and everybody I have talked to says the same thing, when you are out of gas, you are out of gas. So far I have found that to be very true. So I start back in a couple of days. Looking forward to getting out of the house more. Oh yea, I forgot, I am driving again. Again, the doctors werent happy, but the prospect of me running naked through the streets due to cabin fever seemed to tip the scales. And to answer all my sons, daughter in laws, grandchildren, friends, and family. Yes, I am obeying doctors orders, Yes, I am obeying Lisas orders and Yes, I am eating well. (Now I know this statement will be met with a resounding belly laugh from those of you who know me so I invite the unbelievers to message my wife and ask her. However, I will say in my defense that her opinion of the above mentioned matter may be a bit skewed. None the less, feel free to ask). Things are so bad in this area that the girls at Pearlys, where I eat lunch everyday, will not fill my lunch order if it is outside what Lisa has said I can have, I am not allowed biscuits, cornbread, nothing fried or salty. The girls have to agree on what I can have and I either eat that or they dont feed me. There is no justice in the world. Let me say I am very blessed by God to be alive. Ive had a light stroke, a widow maker heart attack, two stints, another heart attack (this one) and triple by pass open heart surgery in the last 4 years. God had been good to me. I am also blessed to have a wife who has nursed, loved, and protected me (even from myself) with out reserve. I love you Lisa. My sons and their families have been wonderful. All of them weighed in when I needed them most and stood up for the old man. I have 4 very fine men for sons and I love them more than they know. Thank God for them. One last thing, my sister Gina Lawson McBrayer has taken over the yard chores I cannot perform right now. Thank you Gina, I love you. So thats it, Im on the mend, the doctors say 3-6 months to get over this and so far, I believe them. However, I am doing better than anybody thought I would and I am happy to be here.
