Ive had a lot of free time lately. Allergies are keeping me inside and asthma keeps waking me up so Im sleeping a lot less. This makes plenty of time for movie watching so heres more of Melanies mini-movie reviews. Delivery Man - Ok, I know I made fun of my therapist for watching Need For Speed but I guess we all like bad movies every now and then. This isnt a bad movie, per se, but its not a great one. Cute story and I did tear up a few times (not that it takes much these days). Plus, I like Vince Vaughn even though hell never be as money as he was in Swingers. Carrie (2013 version): Yes, Ive seen the original and can I just say, Sissy Spacek? If there hadnt been an original version, this one would suffice just fine, but as it is, I will agree with most critics and call this one unnecessary. Still, it has enough gore that I had to look away several times. Also, I like Julianne Moore; shes a great actress. The girl who played Carrie is too pretty, though. And dont get me started on how no one could be that naive anymore. Didnt she have to take high school biology to graduate - thats generally a requirement! Plus, if I saw any girl with that much blood on her, Id be calling 911 because that just wasnt anywhere in the scope of normal. Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy: I wanted to like this movie. I expected to like it. Ive only heard how funny it is for years and years. I thought the trailer for the sequel was hilarious. The part where Will Farrell bottle feeds a shark cracks me up every time. But this movie wasnt that funny. I actually paused it and went and got lunch and came back to watch the last half hour. Maybe I was just hungry and irritable? But I really didnt get why people think this is so funny because its not. And its not like I dont get the humor. Low-brow humor is funny to me - my favorite show is Family Guy! And I have nothing against Will Ferrell, either. But this was very disappointing. Flipped: Based on a novel that Ive never read, this is a cute coming-of-age tale about two eighth-graders who eventually fall for each other. The novel was modern but the film takes place in the late 50s and early 60s. It also addresses issues of class which I found interesting. Some great actors with the exception of that girl from Magic Mike. I read her dad is some Hollywood big shot which makes a lot of sense because shes terrible. Luckily, she doesnt have to many speaking lines. Overall, I enjoyed this little gem of a movie.
