Ive had quite many differences with my friend Bobby Naqvi over the #CharlieHebdo cartoons & the limits on free speech. But he seriously hits-the-nail-on-the-head with these very pertinent observations (comparing it with what could have happened in India) - One can differ with their right to slander and offend, but you cannot ignore the dignity and patience with which French people and govt handled this crisis and its aftermath. There was no public parading of 12 bodies of the slain journalists. There were no speeches on Kriya and Pratikriya. French Interior Minister in fact warned against any attacks on Muslims after a few minor, isolated incidents. There were no raids on Muslim communities and no arrest of Muslim youths on suspicion. There was a collective outpouring of anguish but no anger, collective grief but no collective grudge. Millions marched in solidarity and in grief but no gathering of blood thirsty mobs outside Muslim homes. Due respect was given to the slain Muslim cop who died fighting terrorists and the Muslim grocery worker who saved 15, including Jews. (y) (y)
